Canberra Nature Park encompasses most of the hills and ridges within and around the urban areas of Canberra, plus the Murrumbidgee River Corridor. While horse riding is not allowed in some parts of Canberra Nature Park, it is allowed in others. In particular, some 22 kilometers of equestrian trails have been designated in the Mount Majura and Mount Ainslie region and a brochure is available which includes a map of the trails. The code of behaviour for riding in Canberra Nature Park areas includes the following:
As pointed out in the brochure: 'If you meet other horse riders who are not following this code, politely explain to them that only by keeping to its guidelines can they ensure that horse riding remains an appropriate way to enjoy bushland areas. Cooperation with Canberra Nature Park Rangers is essential for all horse riders.' For a copy of the brochure or further information contact: The Manager, Canberra Nature Park
