If you would like a FREE web site for your pony club in the Canberra region please send me and e-mail now to begin arrangements.

There are four main types of equestrian associations in the Canberra region:
bulletpony clubs (instruction for young riders);
bulletriding clubs (groups of adults who like to ride together);
bulletsporting associations (arrange competitions); and
bulletbreed societies (promote particular horse breeds).

In some instances these overlap. For example, the Canberra Riding Club is both a pony club and a club for adult riders, and many of the breed societies organise sporting activities such as rally days and gymkhanas.

INCORPORATION

Because of the ever increasing threat of litigation, more and more clubs are seeking the legal status of incorporation. Whether to become incorporated may be a difficult decision for some clubs as there are good reasons for incorporation, and some added complications. The arguments for and against incorporation, and the procedure by which a club becomes incorporated, are given in Appendix 4.

INSURANCE

All clubs that hold public functions should carry public liability insurance. If more than one event is held each year, it will be cheaper to get cover on an annual basis because one-off insurance is very expensive. Companies which will provide public liability cover for equestrian clubs include:
