Whether you keep your horse in a paddock or at commercial stables, a first aid kit should always be kept in your car. Do not rely on the owner of the agistment. or stabling facility to help you out. A basic first aid kit should include:

bulletclean bucket
bulletnon-adhesive elastic bandage
bullethorse thermometer
bulletlarge roll of cotton wool
bullethydrogen peroxide
bulletnon-adherent dressings
bulletsharp scissors
bulletantibiotic ointment
bulletroll of gauze bandage
bulletantiseptic wash (such as Betadine)
bulletroll of adhesive elastic bandage 0 a small container of salt.
