PO Box 215 Curtin ACT 2605 Aims: The main aim of the Monaro Horse Trekkers is to enjoy responsible horse trekking in small groups on riders' own horses in the Monaro region. Meetings: Quarterly club meetings held at 7.OOpm on first Tuesday of Feb, May August and November at Forest Park Restaurant Cotter Road Curtin. AGM in May. Functions: Once or twice a month local rides, usually starting at the Equestrian Park, or weekend treks which require floating or trucking. Easter ride in Kosciusko National Park. Monaro Horse Trekkers also join in with other affiliated Australian Trail Horse Riders' Association (ATHRA) club rides and endurance rides. Sometimes they organise private horse riding holidays interstate and overseas. Membership Fees: Members: $25 due 1 January (this includes ATHRA insurance and newsletter), or $5 per ride to cover insurance. National Association: Australian Trail Horse Riding Association. Murrumbateman Adult Riding Club Aims: The Club (MARC) aims to promote an interest in equestrian sports; promote good fellowship among those interested in equestrian sports; and to educate, train, coach and encourage Club members. History: The Club was formed in 1995 to cater for adult riders in the Murrumbateman, Yass and Canberra regions. Grounds: Murrumbateman Recreation Grounds, Barton Highway. Meetings: Meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month at 5 Morrison Place, Murrumbateman at 7.30pm for an informal get together before the formal proceedings commence at 8:OOpm. Rallies: Mounted activities are held on the third weekend of each month and all grades of riders are catered for in flat work and jumping. Guest instructors are invited to instruct at some rallies. In addition, clinics in all disciplines are organised throughout the year. Club Activities: Riding instruction, competitive events (unofficial and official), lectures, demonstrations, videos, trail rides, visits to horse shows, studs and other equestrian establishments, as well as social events which cater for nonriding family members, regular newsletter. Members: Members must be 18 years or older. Riding ability varies greatly, and includes nervous beginners, adults who have taken up riding in recent years, exPony Club members, and competent riders introducing novice horses to competition. All horses welcome to attend, regardless of shape, size or ability.
