Riding for the Disabled (RDA) is a world-wide movement which provides horse riding for people with disabilities. Over 120 groups operate throughout Australia and people with a wide range of disabilities are catered for in RDA programs. These people include those with intellectual disabilities, injury resulting from accidents, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, muscular distrophy, multiple sclerosis, autism, visual impairment, deafness, specific learning difficulties and amputees. Once riders have gained the required skills, RDA can assist in the integration of riders into community based riding programs.

RDA is a voluntary organisation and depends on volunteers for all aspects of its work, as well as financial contributions from the government and the public (which are tax deductible). Volunteers run the office, feed horses and clean out stables, as well as assisting riders on their horses. Financial assistance can also be made through sponsorship of a horse and the donation of feed or equipment. Pegasus also receives voluntary assistance from veterinarians, transport companies and qualified riding instructors.

The ACT Branch of RDA is based at Pegasus Farm in Belconnen. Pegasus has a set of stables, an outdoor arena and a full-size indoor arena. Pegasus conducts regular competitions for non-disabled riders, particularly dressage competitions and the occasional one-day event. Impending competitions are usually advertised in saddleries.
