PO Box 4 Curtin ACT 2605 Aims: The Equestrian Association is the peak equestrian body in the ACT, representing over 20 amateur clubs and associations. The Equestrian Association is made up of club affiliates who have voting rights and some individuals and businesses who do not (associates). The main aim of the Association is to promote horse riding as a healthy recreational activity, improve the standard of horsemanship, and promote the development of equestrian facilities and activities by the ACT Government and public. Meetings: Quarterly meetings held at the Canberra Riding Club Clubhouse: May, August, November, February. AGM in early May. Functions: Publishes a quarterly calendar of horse events in the ACT. The sport is regulated by the Australian Endurance Riders Association (AERA) and its affiliated State associations. There are four divisions for competitors: heavyweight, open, lightweight and junior. The aim of endurance riding is not so much winning as completing the course and all riders who finish the course in the time allowed and whose horses pass the final veterinary check receive an award, usually a emblazed belt buckle. Aims: The main aim of the Association is to promote endurance riding in the ACT and region, and to conduct the National Capital Endurance Ride, 80km and 40km. Meetings: The Committee meets about four times a year. AGM in April Functions: Annual National Capital Endurance Ride (80/40km), training rides and social events including dinners and BBQs. Membership Fees: $30.00. Meetings: Informal planning meetings held every two to three months at a member's home. No elected positions - no AGM. Functions: ACT Natural holds quarterly PNH rally days, organises clinics and instruction days with qualified Parelli instructors. Instructors sell PNH equipment (halters, leads, long ropes, bareback pads, bridles). Membership Fees: No membership fees, $5 for members who want to receive a newsletter. ALDREC is a new organisation itself, formed to promote endurance events under FEI rules in Australia. (For further information on ALDREC see Australian Endurance and Trail Riders News July & August issues 1995 pp.12-14.) Aims: The aim of the Association is to promote endurance riding in the ACT. Meetings: The Committee meets as required to organise rides. AGM in February. Functions: Endurance Rides under ALDREC rules; Carnivals and Training rides (from 15 km to 40km). One championship ride per year (160km). Membership Fees: $30.00. National Association: Affiliation with Australian Endurance Riders Association pending current application.

Meetings: Committee meetings held as required (usually quarterley) to organise competitions. AGM in September. Functions: Polocrosse Tournaments, Training Days, Practise Days (commence in January) and Greenhorse Days (commence in October). Annual Christmas party; over 40's carnival every 4 years.
